MOI

The Ministry of Interior announced that the Child Protection in Cyberspace Unit at the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security has arrested a 29-year-old individual for luring and blackmailing a 17-year-old girl via a social media platform, within less than 24 hours of receiving the case.
The Unit explained that upon receiving the case, search and investigation initiated, which led to identifying and arresting the suspect. All necessary legal measures have been taken to refere the case to the Public Prosecution.
The unit stressed the importance of parents’ continuous supervision of their children and raising their awareness of the risks associated with using social media applications and various websites, as well as ensuring the safety of online content. It also underscored the need to educate children on proper actions to take if exposed to any threat or danger.
Parents are urged to contact the unit through in-person visits, by calling the direct line 33523300, via email at cpcu@interior.gov.bh, through the hotline of the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security at 992, or via the MyGov application.
