Security Culture:
Home fires could be prevented, or their effects could be eliminated by following the security and safety instructions of the General Directorate of Civil Defence, including installing smoke detection devices that are available at affordable prices.
These devices create a safe atmosphere because they work in the event of a fire in the house, especially during the night and when the family is asleep.
Citizens and residents, kindly follow the below instructions:
- Provide battery-operated smoke detectors.
- Do not place iron bars on windows that do not open from the inside, and also do not place any obstacles in front of the exits because this would hinder leaving the house during emergencies.
- Provide suitable fire extinguishers and distribute them in appropriate places, especially in the kitchen. You should know how to use them and regularly maintain them to ensure they are fit for use.
- Ensure the safety of wire connections and electrical appliances through regular maintenance.
- Use an automatic circuit breaker to avoid the danger of electricity.
- Close gas cylinders immediately after using them.
- Keep flammable liquids away from sources of fire, heat and electricity.
- Provide good ventilation for warehouses, especially warehouses containing self-combustible materials and chemicals that are affected by high air temperatures.
- Do not light matches, fan a flame, or smoke if there is a smell of gas or other flammable material.
- In the event of a fire, it is prohibited to open the windows of the house to avoid spreading the fire.
