The launch of the National Platform for Civil Protection (https://www.ncpp.gov.bh) comes in line with the Ministry of Interior’s strategy aimed at maintaining public safety and enhancing awareness, which fundamentally requires individuals to understand what actions to take in the event of accidents or emergencies.
The platform offers educational and awareness resources for responding to emergencies and is grounded in the principles of the National Emergency Strategy, as well as the plans and procedures of the Civil Defence Council. It operates under the mechanisms of the National Committee for Civil Protection and adopts community partnership as a fundamental methodology to create a safe, risk-free environment through collective efforts and coordinated action toward a society that is fully aware of potential risks and how to prevent them.
The platform provides a range of electronic advisory services based on community participation, encouraging public engagement and individual responsibility for public safety. These services are structured into several key points:
1. How to Be Prepared: Focuses on how individuals can protect themselves and their families by adhering to safety and security guidelines, such as complying with safe room requirements, in order to respond appropriately to any potential hazard.
2. Civil Emergencies: Addresses how individuals should respond to daily incidents, natural phenomena, and various accidents in accordance with public safety protocols, along with basic first aid knowledge.
3. The Aware Child (Ghaith): A cartoon character featured in the Watani magazine, aimed at educating children about potential risks in an engaging and age-appropriate manner.
4. Waa’I Stories: A short 3D animated video series portraying everyday life scenarios, highlighting the family’s role in promoting awareness across various areas while preserving authentic customs and traditions.
5. Volunteering for Civil Defence: A service allowing citizens to submit applications to volunteer for Civil Defence through two programmes: General Volunteer and Specialised Volunteer.
6. Safety Regulations and Preventive Supervision: Offers comprehensive information on safety requirements for facilities and fire prevention standards.
7. Multimedia Section: Includes videos, images, and animations that demonstrate how to respond to different types of risks.
The platform also provides emergency contact numbers and is working to offer interactive maps of security centres, healthcare facilities, hospitals, shelters, and other critical locations for emergency situations.
