Director-General of Verdict Enforcement receives Congress staff delegation

The Director-General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing, Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, received a staff delegation from the US Senate and House of Representatives. The visit is part of cooperation with the Bahrain Embassy in Washington to exchange expertise in criminal justice and reformation. 
The Director-General welcomed the US delegation and asserted that the alternative sentencing and open prisons are part of the remarkable initiatives of the reform project of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa that are supported by the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. 
He pointed out the major role of His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa through his instructions and follow-up to provide all requirements for the success of the alternative sentencing and open prisons to promote the competency of the reform system of Bahrain. 
He highlighted the goals and achievements of the project, including offering educational, training and rehabilitation programmes with the focus of positively integrating the beneficiaries into society and achieving criminal justice. 
After that, the delegation toured the open prison complex and learned about its modern educational buildings, housing units, and other facilities. The delegation members appreciated Bahrain’s alternative sentencing and open prisons experience. They asserted that they represent an advanced model of the best global practices and the commitment of Bahrain to human rights and comprehensive reform.
