The Ministry of Interior announced that the Anti-Narcotics Directorate of the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science had foiled an operation involving the sale and trafficking of more than 100 kilograms of marijuana and hashish, with an estimated street value of approximately BD 1.5 million, and arrested three individuals involved in the case.
It stated that the smuggling operations were being carried out from Iran through what is known as “dead mail drops”, after which the narcotic substances were sold and trafficked in Bahrain using the same method.
The investigations into the case resulted in the identification and arrest of the suspects.
It added that the seized items included sums of money in various currencies, materials used in smuggling and distribution operations, and two boats used for smuggling from Iran.
Legal proceedings have been initiated, and the case has been referred to the Public Prosecution.
